I am almost ready. I still have to have the Simplex T-shirts made, but other than that I am set. I will be bringing 3 bikes. I think I am going to try to sell the 1960 Sportsman, to make room for another project!

I’m not even close to being ready. I have a few side jobs that are taking every bit of my free time. I’m looking forward to camping and can’t wait to bring something I don’t need home.

Well it looks like this years meet might be a little damp. Portland (along with where I live near Lima, OH) has seen record amounts of rain. I’m not worried though. We have had plenty of rainy events and the members have always managed to have a good time. I’m dropping my camper off tomorrow and I’ll see just what we are up against this year. I still think we are going to have an outstanding meet this year.
I always get a lot of phone calls at this time of year from members, and usually every year it seems there is a question that is asked a hundred times by different members. This year it has been “what is the condition of the Portland grounds” LOL, but I have received several calls from new people wanting to inquire about our meet. Several of them have said they can’t wait to see what the meet is all about.
So I think that is exciting to know that our meet is getting advertised in one way or another.
I’d also like to notify those who check back at our website and don’t say anything, that our website is getting visited everyday by several people everyday. So if you post something, don’t think it isn’t getting any traffic! I have no idea why some of our subjects aren’t getting any responses, but the subjects or posts are getting read.
I am excited to work with this new editor. I think he will bring a lot of professionalism and new ideas to our magazine. I have several topics that he can report on including promoting this website and striking interest to join in on the forums.
So for those of you who want to see these forums grow, just keep coming back and posting even if you think no one is here. They are!

That’s it for now. See you all at Portland.
      Darren

I dropped my camper off today. Wow what a muddy mess! I was glad that I made it. A little concerned that I wouldn’t because we only use this 1983 motorhome once or twice a year and yah just don’t know what will happen along the way. Fortunately I only live 70 miles away. So anyway I hope everyone else makes it there with no problem like I did.
      Have a safe trip!

Very soggy meet this year. Attendance was way down, as far as I could tell. If this was anyones first time going, don’t judge this meet by this year! I am sure next years will have better weather, as it could not get much wetter! LOL

All in all, I had a great time. Met up with friends, rode a bunch. Not much foot traffic, didn’t sell a thing!

As always, I had a blast. We hunkered down and rode out the weather and loved it. Bought parts to do more Simplexes! So for everyone that makes this meet possible my son Travis and I thank-you.

This years meet was a difficult one. There wasn’t much space to camp due to the soggy ground so we had several vendors, campers on the pavement which made it difficult to navigate. Still waiting on final numbers, but it wasn’t attended near as much as previous years. Lots of die hard members still made the best of it, but after so many days of constant rain it just got the best of everyone.
The only real good thing to come out of this years meet was the turnout at the club banquet Monday evening. We have about 265 people show up for it. I was shocked that there were still that many people on the grounds, but they come out of the woodwork. That was about 90 more than last year, and they all thought we should do it again next year. If the weather would have co-operated we would have surpassed 300 I’m sure. Hopefully next year the weather isn’t near as bad.
