This years meet was a difficult one. There wasn’t much space to camp due to the soggy ground so we had several vendors, campers on the pavement which made it difficult to navigate. Still waiting on final numbers, but it wasn’t attended near as much as previous years. Lots of die hard members still made the best of it, but after so many days of constant rain it just got the best of everyone.
The only real good thing to come out of this years meet was the turnout at the club banquet Monday evening. We have about 265 people show up for it. I was shocked that there were still that many people on the grounds, but they come out of the woodwork. That was about 90 more than last year, and they all thought we should do it again next year. If the weather would have co-operated we would have surpassed 300 I’m sure. Hopefully next year the weather isn’t near as bad.Yes I did! I sent a personal emails asking for a size and address but never got anything back from him. Heck it was a while ago. I don’t know if he didn’t want it or if he didn’t receive the emails. I’ll look up his username again and see if he responds on the website.
It still won’t be big enough. lol
Neat scooter! Never seen one before I think.
I dropped my camper off today. Wow what a muddy mess! I was glad that I made it. A little concerned that I wouldn’t because we only use this 1983 motorhome once or twice a year and yah just don’t know what will happen along the way. Fortunately I only live 70 miles away. So anyway I hope everyone else makes it there with no problem like I did.
Have a safe trip!Well it looks like this years meet might be a little damp. Portland (along with where I live near Lima, OH) has seen record amounts of rain. I’m not worried though. We have had plenty of rainy events and the members have always managed to have a good time. I’m dropping my camper off tomorrow and I’ll see just what we are up against this year. I still think we are going to have an outstanding meet this year.
I always get a lot of phone calls at this time of year from members, and usually every year it seems there is a question that is asked a hundred times by different members. This year it has been “what is the condition of the Portland grounds” LOL, but I have received several calls from new people wanting to inquire about our meet. Several of them have said they can’t wait to see what the meet is all about.
So I think that is exciting to know that our meet is getting advertised in one way or another.
I’d also like to notify those who check back at our website and don’t say anything, that our website is getting visited everyday by several people everyday. So if you post something, don’t think it isn’t getting any traffic! I have no idea why some of our subjects aren’t getting any responses, but the subjects or posts are getting read.
I am excited to work with this new editor. I think he will bring a lot of professionalism and new ideas to our magazine. I have several topics that he can report on including promoting this website and striking interest to join in on the forums.
So for those of you who want to see these forums grow, just keep coming back and posting even if you think no one is here. They are! That’s it for now. See you all at Portland.
DarrenGreat Kevin!
I hope to take some stuff to sell this year. I have a Honda 70 I had plans to restore but I’m never going to get around to it so I’d might as well sell it to make room for stuff that I need to give priority to. I also have a little 50cc suzukie mini-bike that will be there. Also I have a 50’s lawn -mower with original paint I’m going to get rid of. Cool mower but I need the room it’s been sucking up.It looks to me to be a cute little motor. It would probably be illegal on the road in the state of Ohio, but depending on the price I think I’d be interested if I had some property that I think I could get away with it.
By the way, after you posted the pictures did you find it difficult or easy after you loaded them? Do you think you’ll find it easier next time?-

I was surprised to see that it had changed myself. It changed when we had to update the website and I don’t know if there was anything that I could do to keep the same math problems.
Kevin,
There was a silver pigeon for sale on vintage scooter community classifieds for $1200 just yesterday. Check it out!ponchoGXB, if you could size your photos down they will upload without error. I would really like to see pictures of it.
Silver Pigeon is a Japanese scooter. They are kind of rare although they show up at Portland once in a while. Google Silver Pigeon scooter. They are a very comfortable ride and stylish too, while being smooth and dependable like all Japanese stuff. The problem with them is they are very, very heavy with a low top end at 35 – 40 mph tops. The motor works very hard to get up to a top speed with a variable clutch system much like a snowmobile. I don’t dislike them, but I would rather spend time restoring something with more riding ability. Cushmans are slow enough at 50 – 55 mph. I find my 53 Eagle fun and comfortable at 40 – 45mph but it’s not whining and spilling its guts.
One more day left to get your name in!
My dad invented the Pigeon coup. Had a sign made up and everything revolved around them at that time of the year. He really likes those Pigeons even though he seldom brings them anymore. I think he just isn’t as thrilled about them as he once was. He hasn’t really lost interest, but hasn’t had as much fun at the meet ever since Marvin passed away several years ago who was the king of Pigeons. Dad misses him.
I have thought about bringing a few bikes for sale as I need to make some room and get back to my priorities. It seems every few years I amass things I really don’t need, but wanted at the time as a novelty. I make sure I always buy it right though so I can break even. I just have too many projects and things that I really want to get done will already take several years.
